Recent studies indicate that the most effective learning involves values-based education. Schechter has embraced this concept from its inception. Differentiated instruction has been proven to serve the needs of both diverse learners and their peers while expanding an educator’s arsenal of educational tools. Our integrated curriculum encourages teachers to support each other and empowers our children to express themselves. Additionally, our focus on the whole child and personalized approach ensure that each of our students and families receives a challenging and nurturing educational experience infused with Jewish values.

While our technology-enhanced classes support our commitment to providing an uncompromising Judaic and General Studies experience, what really distinguishes a Schechter education goes beyond the academics. Rabbi Elliot Goldberg Head of School

Rabbi Goldberg is a graduate of the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School and the University of Chicago.  He received a Wexner graduate fellowship to study at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where he earned a master’s degree in Jewish education and rabbinic ordination. Rabbi Goldberg also completed the Senior Educator Program at the Melton Center for Jewish Education at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Day School Leadership Training Institute at the Davidson School of Jewish Education at JTS.

Rabbi Goldberg joins Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford after serving as the Director of Religious Life at the Chicagoland Jewish High School for ten years.  Rabbi Goldberg has also served on the Judaic Studies faculty at the Milken Community High School in Los Angeles and as Rabbi-in-Residence at the Solomon Schechter Day School in Bergen County. He has spent more than 25 summers at Camp Ramah (New England, California, the Berkshires, Wisconsin, and Israel) both as a camper and staff member.

Rabbi Goldberg lives in West Hartford with his family, Rabbi Sheryl Katzman, and their children Michal (Class of 2018), Hadas (Class of 2018) and Liora (Class of 2023).
