How to Apply to Solomon Schechter Day School

Step 1: Inquire

Interested families should contact the Admissions Office at 860-561-0700 or complete the online inquiry form to schedule a visit and tour, and to receive an admissions packet.

Step 2: Visit and Tour

We encourage families to visit campus during the school day to see Schechter in action. Please plan for a 90-minute visit, which includes a tour and time to answer any questions you may have.

Step 3: Apply

Families should complete and submit the online application as soon as possible. For additional assistance, please contact the Admissions office at 860-561-0700.

Step 4: Student Visit and Parent Interview

Once the application is submitted, we will contact you to schedule your child’s visit. Playgroups and group interviews will be arranged for early childhood and kindergarten applicants. Half-day visits will be scheduled for children applying to grades 1-8.

At Schechter, we build a home/school connection from the very start. Parent(s) and guardian(s) meet with the Head of School to discuss the school’s mission and core values.

Step 5: Receipt of Records and the Interview

Next, families sign a Release for School Records in order to submit a current report card, final report cards from the previous two years, as well as evaluations, reports, and/or testing, if applicable. Following this step, an interview will be arranged. After the interview, we contact parents/guardians with an acceptance decision.
