Thank you for expressing interest in supporting our school!
The Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford is a non-profit educational institution that depends on income from tuition, endowment and charitable contributions to support its mission to provide an outstanding dual-curricular educational experience in a welcoming environment.
A quality Jewish Day School is expensive and tuition alone does not cover the cost. In these challenging economic times, SSDS relies increasingly on philanthropic support. Yearly fundraising events and our FOSS (Friends of Solomon Schechter) Campaign are the foundation of our Annual Fund. These vital dollars benefit our operating and scholarship budgets. In addition, Solomon Schechter receives a yearly allocation from the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and various grants from the Jewish Community Foundation to enhance curriculum and promote staff development.
The Annual Campaign reaches beyond our current body to include alumni parents, alumni, grandparents, staff and friends in the Greater Hartford Jewish community. These charitable donations enable the school to achieve academic excellence while remaining financially accessible to young Jewish families.
Long-term sustainability is also a priority at Schechter. The Endowment Campaign is a major focus of our fundraising efforts. It is steadily increasing through the income it generates in interest from the investment of the principal. A strong endowment will solidify our school’s financial security in the future. Donors who establish an endowment fund at a certain level are invited to name a program of their personal choice. Through the Jewish Community Foundation’s Leave a Legacy campaign, gifts that benefit Schechter can be set up in several ways; a trust, a bequest in your will, a private family foundation, or a life insurance policy. Estate gifts in various forms are wonderful acts of tzedakah, especially when they memorialize the donor’s name in perpetuity.
Thank you for your support. Your generosity can make a meaningful difference.
Sincerely,
Jayne Rotter
