Schechter’s Distance Learning Program builds upon our core beliefs about children and their education: that children thrive and are best able to learn and grow when their social-emotional needs are met, and that their academic growth is dependent on highly differentiated instruction. Social emotional connection, especially at this time of isolation, is of the utmost importance. Our program assures that our students remain and build upon their connections to their teachers and their classmates through regular live interactions and instruction. Our Distance Learning Program is a natural extension of Schechter’s model of  small group instruction and our focus on developing student independence. Using a set of online tools including Zoom, SeeSaw, Google Classroom and Google Meets, Flipgrid, and Jamboard, our faculty strive to provide a variety of methods to connect with and engage our students.

Schechter’s commitment to our students and families is beautifully reflected in a full day of engagement for our students, differentiated by age and developmental stage. Each teaching team approaches distance learning rooted in the same set of values and develops their engagement according to the developmental needs of the students. In addition, our faculty reflect upon and enhance their distance learning program on a regular basis as students and families become accustomed to this mode of learning, as they receive feedback from families and students, and as the experience of the Distance Learning field grows and is shared. Schechter’s Distance Learning Program has shined; it reflects some of the best of what it means to be part of the Schechter community. Join us.
